I have noticed that it is now impossible to run a show of any size without insurance, the good old days of the organizers insurance covering the re-enactment have gone and even the village fete and local fundraising event requires insurance, risk assessments and many other bits of important paper.
The lowest insurance required for most shows now stands at £5,000,000 and this gives us only basic cover and will cost you somewhere in the range of £500, which is out of reach for many small groups and those who work on their own.
Often there is no wish to join a 'GROUP' or to amalgamate with others, many therefore get left out of the bigger shows or have little hope of running their own local shows.
However by registering with the 'Companions of St George' you have access to a number of added bonuses, not only do you retain your independance and your own identity you are covered by insurance and you can call on any of the other people registered to come along and give you a hand if you so wish. You have now gone from a one man band to "I wonder how many people are free that weekend to have fun and help me out?"
