Rules

All blows MUST be kept below the shoulder level of your opponent.

NO blows are to be landed full force in normal combat. The blow must be stopped before contact if fighting a non-armoured person; blows should be bounced against armour.  In all cases assume NO armour unless it is visible.

‘Following through’ with weapon contact should be avoided if possible, ‘bounced’ blades looks better from a crowd point of view and is less likely to cause a weapon to break and fly towards the public.

All members must be competent and safe with their chosen weapons depending on the rank they are portraying.  A knight should fight like a knight, not like a peasant.

Your kit should be correct for the rank that you wish to portray; a knight would have armour and a high standard of soft kit.  It is best to start small and build up to the higher ranks.

£10 is payable to register and must be received before confirmation of membership can be made.

Discrimination cannot and WILL NOT be tolerated.  Race, creed, gender or age has nothing to do with ability or enthusiasm.

Consumption of alcohol and drug abuse WILL NOT be tolerated during the opening hours of an event.  What you do in your own time after the show closes is up to you but please ensure you are fit to fight the next day.  There will be no exceptions to this rule and should it be reported that you have broken this rule your membership will be terminated with immediate effect.

Weapons MUST be kept in a ‘safe’ condition.  No edge should be thinner that a 10p coin, points should be rounded to a 2p coin.  Burred edges can kill; if your not prepared to test the weapon against your own skin don’t expect to take the weapon onto the field.

Keep all personal problems away from the field of combat and from the encampment.  We are there to have fun and enjoy ourselves, so please leave the politics at home.

Due to insurance restrictions we cannot allow combatant members under the age of 18.  However we do except individual membership from the age of 16.  If you have children then they become members when you do.  There is a part for everyone to play even if you can’t go out to fight just yet.

Bad language in public whilst in kit should be avoided at all times.  Learn some Norman French then they wont know what you said!!
